AUU Employment Service
Employers Information
Commercial Employers - Casual / Part Time Employment
The AUU Employment Service was established in 2002 with the aim of providing quality casual and part time employment opportunities to University of Adelaide students and offering employers a simple mechanism to advertise directly to them with a minimum of fuss. Recruitment is an area often associated with high costs, lengthy procedures and contracts. What we offer is simple: access to 19,000 potential students via our online jobs database, same day advertising and no red tape. And we wont charge you a cent - no strings attached. OK, we would like you to employ one of our high calibre students - guilty as charged.
All work advertised by commercial employers must be on the books via hourly Award/AWA/EB wages. We wont advertise commission based work (no exceptions), cash-in-hand work, medical trials or door-to-door sales.
Why don't you join the growing list of quality employers who use this service to take the hassle out of recruitment? For a no obligation discussion, contact us with your unique requirements and we will tailor the right solution for you.

If you are targeting final year students we recommend doubling up - the AUU Employment Service still has penultimate and final year students checking it out and the University of Adelaide Careers Service target this market specifically.
Domestic Employment
The majority of work advertised with this service is commercial, however we still have strong community links and offer our services to householders. Gardening and cleaning are popular requirements and we can advertise through our employment website in our 'domestic employment' section. Interested students contact you direct and your ad stays online for 2 weeks. If you fill the job quickly, just contact us and we can withdraw it!
Domestic work is defined as work performed on the householder's property and not in connection with a commercial business. Students are covered by WorkCover for accidents and it is a requirement of householders to keep a log of times/dates work and a duty of care to their employees. Cash payment is legal because the householder has already paid tax on that money! These rules apply to householders who spend less than $9,200 on domestic labour per annum (which is virtually everyone!).
The minimum hourly rate we will advertise is $15.00 p/hr in the interests of fairness. The only exception is babysitting as it is done in longer blocks of time and a flat payment can be negotiated between employer and student. As with all things in life, the better the pay, the quicker the response!
International Students
To verify an international student's legitimacy to work in Australia, follow these steps;
1. Ask to see their passport.
2. Confirm that the person standing before you matches the photograph in the passport they provide.
3. Check that the person has a valid visa to work in Australia through the Visa Entitlement Verification Online (VEVO) service www.immi.gov.au/evo. Results are returned almost immediately.
