Exams

The examination timetables are available on the web usually around mid May for Semester 1 and late September for Semester 2.

It is the student's responsibility to find out about exams; please note that information on exams cannot be given out over the phone by University staff. It is also expected that students will be available for the whole exam period, including supplementary, so it may be best not to book your holidays too early!

Supplementary Exams:

Supplementary exams can be awarded in cases where "circumstances prevent you from attending an exam or effect your preparation for an exam";   these are usually medical or compassionate. They can also be awarded where the result is a marginal fail (45 - 49%), or where the subject failed is the last one needed to complete a degree.

In all cases you must fill out the appropriate forms, (available at your school or faculty office or University web-site), and provide supporting documentation as required.

Time-limits for medical and compassionate applications apply.

Students should refer to the Examinations Policy on the University web-site or in the Student Guide.

Advice can be sought from Faculty/School Staff or from the Education and Welfare Officers (Student Care)

Special Circumstances Exams

If you have a long term illness or disability or other incapacity, you may need some variation to the way in which your exams are conducted. Students with registered disbilities can usually negotiate these via the University's Disability Liaison Officer.

Other students will need to supply supporting documents in an application to their Faculty.

There are also situations where exams are granted under Non -Medical Special Circumstances. These include course 'clashes', exams scheduled on religious days, Defence Force duties and cross-institutional students.

Details and application forms are available in the Alternative Examinations Arrangements Policy at www.adelaide.edu.au/policies/63   or Reasonable Adjustments to Teaching and Assessment dor Students with a Disability Policy at www.adelaide.edu.au/policies/64
